OUR SCHOOL GOVERNORS

Under the Education Reform Act of 1998, the Governing Body is responsible for the management of the school within the framework of Government legislation and the Local Education Authority’s policies. The governors are elected, nominated or co-opted onto the Governing Body to serve for a period of four years.

There are five meetings of the full Governing Body each year plus regular meetings of the Finance, Curriculum, Personnel and Premises sub-committees. The approved minutes of governors’ meetings are available and are displayed on the Governors’ Notice Board in the school entrance hall. The Governors regularly attend training courses to keep up to date with new initiatives.

The Governing Body currently consists of the following members who will be pleased to discuss any school matter with you. Simply contact them by sending a note to the school addressed to the Governor concerned.

The Governing Body met twice in full during the Autumn term and discussed issues including the raising of standards, in Mathematics in particular, the School Development Plan and Extended schools. The finance and curriculum Committees also met. A programme of lesson visits is also being undertaken by Govenors who have responsibilities in different subject areas.
