Parent Teacher Association NEWS
The last academic year proved to be very profitable for our fundraising efforts. We thank everyone for their valuable support and look forward to another year of Discos, Fayres, Plant Sales, competitions etc. If there is a fundraising idea that you would like us to try please contact us via the school office, or e-mail julie@jasgarage.co.uk. We especially look forward to welcoming parents who are new to the school. Some of the events that we run require a number of helpers so we are always on the look out for volunteers. We always welcome new people and welcome ideas for money raising activities etc.
The things planned for this year are fireworks (4th Nov), indulgence evening (possible), discos, christmas raffle and the summer fayre.
BJS has a very active Parents' Association. Not only do we raise money to provide the 'extras' that the school budget cannot meet, but our variety of fund raising events contribute to the school's sense of community and help build links with Bilton Infant and Bawnmore Infant Schools.
In the last school year our fundraising include a Firework party, Discos, Christmas Raffle, Plant Sales, Quiz Night and Summer Fayre. Money raised at these events allowed the PA to fund 10 digital cameras, visualisers for each classroom, swimming hats (design picked after a competition open to all children) which were used at the swimming gala and a donation to the allotment club.
None of this would be possible without parent/carer support. At present the committee consists of a handful of people. It would be great to increase PA numbers to introduce new ideas and spread the workload! We are looking for new committee members and helpers. Committee members try to attend meetings (6 - 8 a year) which are held at The Fighting Cocks pub and last about one and a half hours. They make decisions about forthcoming events and how funds are spent. Helpers are people who prefer not to commit themselves to attending meetings but help with the running of events. If you can help or have some good ideas you can contact us via the school office. This year should be particularly exciting as we are planning to register with the Charity Commission, change our name and ratify our Constitution.
