We wanted to share with you our thoughts and plans for an amazing new space at the school. As you are all aware at Bilton C of E Junior School we are passionate about offering our children the best possible support, care and resources. We are currently fundraising in order to be able to build a new, separate outdoor Solardome©Sanctuary. The Sanctuary will be a specific place in school where children will be able to enjoy a calm and reflective space, where we can have circle time and group discussions, embrace our school values. It will enable us to do so many things from having a quiet place for children to spend time at break and lunchtimes right the way through to yoga and dance classes, the possibilities are endless!
Solardome Thank You
We have started our fundraising and are delighted to inform you that to date we have donations from Bilton Charities, Rugby County Council, Hafele, Loubie Lou’s, WindowsPlus, Class of 2019 Year 6 pupils and parents also pocket money from pupils Oliver B, Solomon C, Aiden M, Felix H, We have over £27,000 raised already as a school, so a step in the right direction towards our target of £55,000! Several local businesses have been contacted and we await their response.
We have also submitted bids with three foundations to support us and are looking forward to hearing from them in the near future, these are Garfield Weston, the Lottery Community Health Fund and Rugby Group Benevolent Fund we are expecting feedback from them over the coming months. Do you work in an organisation or a business that you think would be keen to donate to the school? Do you have contacts that we can get in touch with and explain our vision and they may also be able to offer some financial support?
This month we have been focusing on preparing applications for the Severn Trent
who from 2020, we’re going to be giving away £10million over the next five years
to support local projects, charities and community groups in the Severn Trent
region - helping to make a real and tangible difference in our communities. We have
applied for a substantial contribution from them to cover three areas of improving
community wellbeing. We believe that the Solardome Sanctuary will help people to
lead a healthier life and gain new skills as well as creating an engaging and creative
place to be in, it will a sustainable project in so many ways, from the materials we
will use through to the way it will blend into the natural environment. We have also
prepared an application for the Rugby Borough Council Community Project Grant,
which is designed to support community projects in Rugby. The Grants Working
Party, a cross-political party group of Councillors, will meet during May 2020 to
consider the applications received, so we are waiting to hear from them.
We were excited to receive the cheque from WindowsPlus last week for £500, a great contribution. You will also see in this week’s bulletin that Loubie Lou’s are running an exclusive Solardome Sanctuary raffle for us and raising a staggering £182.
We would also like to say a huge thank you to our PTA for donating £4,000, which will make a huge difference to our fundraising total.
