Homework Sheet for Year 6 Pupils – Summer term.

Children will be set the following homework on a weekly basis:

SPELLINGS to learn – usually based on a spelling pattern. Children will be given a spelling test each week. In addition, they will be given associated homework. This work should take about 30 minutes each week to complete.

READING – children should bring their reading book home regularly and read on their own and with an adult. Each time they read the home / school diary needs to be signed. We will expect to see at least 3 signed entries per week signed by the child and at least 2 entries signed by an adult please. Children should spend at least two hours reading at home each week and read a wide range of texts, including library books and magazines. Some children might also benefit from being read to by an adult.

MATHS – appropriate homework will be given within each different set. Again this work should take about 30 minutes each week to complete.

CLASS HOMEWORK – year 6 will be expected to spend about 45 minutes per week on this.

PLEASE NOTE: From time to time during the last two terms at BJS, we may wish to watch videos or DVD’s to enhance your children’s learning. These may include PG rated films, (for example we watch ‘The Longest Day’ in preparation for France later in the year.) We will assume that you give parental permission for this unless you inform us to the contrary in writing. Thank you for your continued support.

Many thanks for your valued support in this very hectic final term!

The Year 6 team.
