Information re Leave of Absence during term time 2023

Regular and punctual attendance at school is both a legal requirement and essential for pupils in order to maximise their educational opportunities.  Attending school ‘regularly’ means that children must attend school on every day that they are required to do so.

Is my child too ill for school?

It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school when they are unwell. The government has provided some guidelines which say when a child should be kept off school. It is important to phone the school each day to let them know that your child won't be in and give them the reason.

Please ensure children join us on time and are ready for learning. The school gates open at 8.30am.

Any pupil arriving after 8.50a.m.needs to enter school via the office door where they will need to sign in and record themselves as 'late', reasons recorded and lunch choices confirmed.

If your child is absent please let us know the reason on the first day of absence, please inform the School Office by 9.30 a.m. to explain the reasons for absence on 01788 810675 or

Leave of absence

Permission for a leave of absence needs to be sought from the Headteacher should you wish to take your child out of School during term time for an exceptional reason. Please note that strict Government laws are in place in relation to school attendance.

Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances relating to the application.  It is for the Head Teacher to decide what is ‘exceptional’ and it is at their discretion if the circumstances warrant the leave to be granted.

Your child's attendance is our shared priority.
