Modern Foreign Languages – French
At Bilton Church of England Junior School, we believe that learning a modern foreign language opens doors to new cultures, experiences and opportunities, helping children develop a greater understanding and appreciation of the wider world. Through our engaging and progressive French curriculum, pupils develop the confidence to communicate in another language while building essential skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Children are encouraged to explore French vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar through a variety of enjoyable and interactive learning experiences, including songs, games, conversations and practical activities. As pupils progress from Year 3 to Year 6, they build upon their knowledge and skills, becoming increasingly confident and independent in their use of French. Our curriculum also encourages curiosity about French-speaking countries, traditions and cultures, promoting respect for diversity and an appreciation of different ways of life. Guided by our school vision, Inspire, Challenge, Achieve, we aim to nurture enthusiastic, resilient and confident language learners who are equipped with the foundations for further language learning and inspired to explore the world beyond their own community.
