Art and Design

At Bilton Church of England Junior School, we believe that Art and Design provides every child with the opportunity to express themselves, explore their creativity and develop a lifelong appreciation of the arts. Through our engaging and progressive curriculum, pupils are encouraged to experiment, investigate and develop their artistic skills using a range of materials, techniques and processes, including drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media. Children are inspired to think creatively, take risks, develop their own ideas and reflect on their work, building confidence, independence and resilience along the way. By exploring the work of different artists, designers and cultures, pupils broaden their understanding of the world and learn to appreciate the creativity and achievements of others. Our Art and Design curriculum celebrates individuality, encourages imagination and provides opportunities for every child to experience success and take pride in their achievements. Guided by our school vision, Inspire, Challenge, Achieve, we aim to nurture confident, curious and creative learners who recognise that art is a powerful way to communicate ideas, emotions and experiences.
