Music

Music brings people together, celebrates individuality and provides a wonderful opportunity for children to express themselves. At Bilton Church of England Junior School, we want every pupil to experience the enjoyment, creativity and sense of achievement that music can bring. Our Music curriculum provides opportunities for children to listen, sing, perform, compose and explore music from a variety of styles, traditions and cultures. Through practical musical experiences, pupils develop their understanding of rhythm, pitch, melody and musical notation while growing in confidence as performers and composers. We encourage children to experiment with sounds, work collaboratively, listen carefully and appreciate the musical talents of others. Music also plays an important part in our wider school life, supporting creativity, wellbeing, celebration and our Christian ethos. Whether performing for others, creating their own compositions or simply discovering a new piece of music, we aim to ensure that every child feels included, inspired and proud of their musical achievements.
